DIVERSIONS

Southend Airport frequently handles diversions of passenger and freight aircraft, particularly from London City Airport when either airspace or airfield congestion or poor weather situations occur.

Southend can quickly respond to welcoming the inbound passengers and arranging surface transport.

The usual arrangements are for passengers to either

• take a taxi from outside the terminal
  
• take the coach arranged by the airport to the nearby Rochford railway station for a fast train into Stratford ( for Docklands ) or to Liverpool Street station in central London
  
• take the coach arranged by the airport to London City Airport ( or other destination airport )

Southend Airport maintains ground handling agreements with most of the airlines for these situations and would be pleased to make special arrangements with carriers for both inbound and outbound services.
