EXCELLENT AIR/RAIL CONNECTIONS
TO LONDON

With door to door travel times increasingly vital to passengers, the airport has been granted planning consent to build its own railway station on the main railway line that runs along the side of the airfield. The rail service is one of the most frequent in the country with six services per hour in peak hours and three throughout the rest of the day, operating between London Liverpool Street Station and Southend Victoria. The services all stop at Stratford where there are connections through the Jubilee Line and Docklands Light Railway with Canary Wharf and Docklands.

The rail service at present stops at nearby Rochford Station, a short 5 minute taxi ride from the airport, but when the airport station is opened in 2009, the journey time from the airport to Stratford (for Docklands) will be 42 minutes and to central London will be 50 minutes.

If/when Crossrail is approved, Crossrail will also link Southend Airport directly with Heathrow by a simple platform change at Shenfield.

For travellers from Tilbury and the South Essex Coast or preferring to connect to/from Fenchurch Street Station in central London, there is a second choice of rail line into central Southend (Southend Central).
