A BIG CATCHMENT AREA

Southend has a large catchment area, split into three groups:-

• 20 minute time saving over travel to another airport;
• Equal driving time to Southend as any other airport;
• General travel times to other airports from a mainline London railway station.

The catchment area is shown in the two illustrations below, with the travel statistics of residents and visitors to the catchment area taken from the 2005 research done by the Civil Aviation Authority, which shows that the 2.5 m people in the catchment area are likely to fly, or receive visitors who fly, over 12 million times a year.
