New Airport Hotel to be a Holiday Inn

The brand new 4-star hotel located at London Southend Airport is to be a Holiday Inn.

Building work recently got underway (w/c 25 July) on the £10 million project sited on land adjacent to the Harp House Roundabout

The striking 129-bedroom hotel is the latest addition to the world-famous chain’s portfolio and will be completed in time for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The new Holiday Inn Southend Airport will feature a variety of spacious twin, double and executive rooms, plus luxurious suites.

In a first for Holiday Inn in the UK, the five-storey hotel will also have a magnificent, fully sound-proofed rooftop bar and restaurant. It will be able to seat over one hundred customers, as they gaze out at the spectacular, panoramic views of the airport and surrounding area.

Holiday Inn Southend Airport will also offer a variety of conference and banqueting facilities, plus a choice of meeting rooms.

Holiday Inn is the world’s best known hotel brand. There are 240 hotels from the Holiday Inn brand family open in the UK with a further 19 due to open in the next few years. Holiday Inn is part of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) family of brands. Angela Brav, IHG’s Chief Executive, Europe says, "The new Holiday Inn Southend Airport will provide a great welcome for guests using the airport. Bringing Holiday Inn to this key location is a testament to the strength of our brands and we look forward to opening our doors to visitors to the Games ahead of London 2012."

Chardon Management, the UK’s leading independent hotel management firm, has been appointed to run the venue for Stobart. The company’s Managing Director Robert Crook says ‘’We are delighted to have been entrusted with the day to day operations of the new hotel, and we look forward to working alongside the Stobart Group on this exciting new project. It’s a great opportunity and the hotel and Holiday Inn brand will complement beautifully the growth plans of the airport.’’

The Managing Director of London Southend Airport, Alastair Welch, says "I am delighted to be working with Holiday Inn, which is also the Official Hotel Provider to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Chardon Management. This hotel is a key part of Stobart’s plans to modernise London Southend airport, with superior quality and convenience both being vital ingredients to its success. I am confident that Holiday Inn and Chardon will deliver both. This hotel will hugely improve facilities for passengers and flight crew using the airport, whilst also becoming an exciting new resource for local businesses. I believe the new restaurant will become a destination venue for the community and people travelling from outside the town."
