London Southend Airport Terminal Building Opening Hours:

The terminal closes 45 minutes after the last scheduled flight arrives and opens at 04:00 daily.

NB. The terminal is not open overnight. This may change should there be delayed flights.

Southend Airport Railway Station Opening Hours:

The station opens 15 minutes before departure of the first train and closes immediately after departure of the last train.  The station is staffed by our Customer Service Assistants at all times when the station is open.

NB. The railway station building is not open overnight. This may change should there be delayed trains.


   Check in

London Southend Airport tries to process all passengers as efficiently as possible. London Southend Airport advises all scheduled flight passengers to arrive 2 hours before the scheduled time of departure of their flight.

Check in times:

Aer Lingus Regional: Check in opens 2 hours before scheduled departure time. Check in closes 45 minutes before scheduled departure time.

easyJet: Check in opens 2 hours before scheduled departure time. Check in closes 40 minutes before scheduled departure time.  Please note that from Tuesday 30th April 2013 easyJet is introducing 100% online check-in. Check-in will no longer be able to be done at the airport the check-in desks will become bag-drop desks only.

Passengers should be aware that the terminal building is open between 04:00 and 00:00. All passengers arriving before 04:00 will not be allowed access to the terminal.

Each relevant airline will be able to advise on the maximum size and weight of hand luggage and hold luggage.

Luggage:

Most airlines accept a small piece of hand luggage to be taken on board, with larger pieces of luggage being placed into the hold. Sizes and weights vary airline to airline. London Southend Airport advises every passenger checks with their relevant airline before travelling as items which are oversize or overweight may be placed in the hold at a cost to the passenger.

We would suggest that you follow the below advice to ensure quick and easy access through London Southend Airport. 

  • Please ensure that you pack the entirety of your bags yourself. Never allow anyone to tamper with your luggage

  • Do not travel with any gifts or items on behalf of another person

  •  Never leave luggage unattended in or around the airport grounds. This is considered a security risk and all luggage left unattended will be removed and possibly destroyed

  • Do not pack any sharp or restricted items into your hand luggage. These items will be removed from your luggage

  • Remember to weigh your luggage before you arrive to avoid having to remove items from your luggage. Each airline will be able to advise you what weights are allowed for each piece of luggage
